While Concho Christmas Celebration draws thousands of San Angeloans to the downtown area each year, it has proven to attract individuals from other places as well. The car count total shows that over 16,097 vehicles drove through the Tour of Lights in 2018. Using a benchmark of 4 individuals per automobile, Concho Christmas estimates that over 71,796 individuals visited the magical light display. Of the 5,207 surveys completed by patrons in December 2018, over 16.2% of the respondents indicated that they lived in a city other than San Angelo. While a smaller number of this same group hailed from outside Texas, the majority listed one of the following places as being "home": Ballinger, Midland, Abilene, Sonora, Eldorado, Lubbock, Odessa, Sterling City, Coleman, Ozona, Brady and many other cities throughout the State of Texas. Because it is an event that is proven to put "heads in beds," the San Angelo Convention & Visitors' Bureau (SAC&VB) has become a community partner helping to promote the event.
The SAC&VB is one of many local partners on which Concho Christmas Celebration depends. With millions of lights to hang and electrify, and thousands of cars to guide through the Tour of Lights, employees, family and friends from over 26 companies such as City of San Angelo, West Texas Rehab Center, Wells Fargo, Holiday Cleaners, the Children's Advocacy Center, the San Angelo I.S.D., and First Community Federal Credit Union volunteer their time. The Texas Department of Corrections provides a work force of out-based inmates to construct and install the large scenes and lights. In addition, collaboration is required with various City departments such as Fort Concho, Operations, Parks & Recreation, and Planning and Development Services. Churches and over 10 non-profit groups like San Angelo REACT, First Christian Church, RSVP, Boy Scouts of America, San Angelo Bicycle Association, Texas Exes San Angelo, and the San Angelo Road Lizards chip in to help. Arts and entertainment groups are incorporated as well with assistance coming from KCSA Radio, Townsquare Media, Tradewind Sound, the San Angelo Community Band and the Twin Mountain Tonesmen.
Concho Christmas Celebration also partners with the San Angelo Police Department, the Tom Green Sheriff's Office, and the Tom Green County Sheriff's Reserve Officers to provide extra security and exemplary services for the Tour of Lights, the visitors to the Tour, and the community volunteers.
